Version 0.6.0
True in-place updates
- Install Update now replaces the running OrbitDrop copy instead of opening a browser or leaving a second download behind.
- The release is downloaded to temporary private storage and its published SHA-256 checksum and version are verified before installation.
- OrbitDrop closes for replacement, reopens automatically, and cleans up its temporary files.
- A temporary recovery copy restores the previous version if replacement fails. Protected install locations may request administrator confirmation.
Versions older than 0.6.0 require one final manual download. After 0.6.0 is installed, future updates happen in place.
Automatically verified release
The macOS and Windows apps were built and tested by the OrbitDrop release pipeline. SHA-256 checksums and build provenance are published with every release.
